Lower Your Bills & Scare Off Wasted Energy

Rebel Energy’s Halloween Survival Guide

Welcome to Rebel Energy’s Halloween special, where we show you how to fight off nightmare energy bills and kick wasteful habits to the curb. This October, we’re throwing down with spooky tips like “Billraiser,” “Quickerman,” and “The Darkening” to help you save cash and make your home a lean, mean, energy-efficient machine. Because at Rebel, we’re not here to follow the rules – we’re here to rewrite them. Let’s dive into the savings!

“Billraiser”: Tear Down High Bills, Raise Your Savings

(Inspired by Hellraiser)

Those sky-high bills haunting your wallet? It’s time to scare off the energy leeches lurking in your home. By making a few rebellious moves, you’ll be raising savings and lowering bills faster than you can say “trick or treat.”

  • Unmask the Hidden Vampires: These sneaky “energy vampires” – TVs, chargers, and game consoles — suck up power even when they’re off! Unplug them or use power strips to stake ‘em once and for all. Rebel tip: smart plugs make cutting the cord easier, letting you shut down energy wasters without lifting a finger.
  • Insulate Your Lair: Stop warm air from sneaking out by beefing up insulation in windows, doors, and attics. It’s an easy upgrade that stops your heating from working overtime — and you from paying for it.

 “Quickerman”: Shorter Showers, Lower Bills

(Inspired by The Wicker Man)

Your water heater is thirsty for energy. It’s one of the biggest guzzlers in your home, but we’ve got just the thing to keep it in check. Inspired by “Quickerman,” these quick tricks will keep your wallet full and water bills low.

  • Speed Demon Showers: Shorten those showers by a few minutes, or upgrade to a low-flow showerhead. Either way, you’ll cut down on water heating costs and show that water heater who’s boss.
  • Turn Down The Cauldron: Keep things comfortable but cost-effective by setting your water heater to 120°F (48°C). It’s just hot enough for comfort but low enough to avoid scalds and surprise expenses.

“The Darkening”: Keep the Lights Low, the Bills Lower

(Inspired by The Shining)

Leaving lights blazing all night? Not on our watch. This Halloween, embrace “The Darkening” to take control of lighting costs. Let your lights work for you, not against you.

  • Dare to Dim: LED bulbs are a game-changer. They last longer, cost less to run, and give your home the lighting upgrade it deserves. Add dimmable options, and you’ve got all the light you need, at a fraction of the cost.
  • Summon Ghost Lights: Set up motion-sensor lights in high-traffic areas like hallways and bathrooms. They’ll only switch on when needed, keeping energy use low and saving you from footing the bill for an empty room. This is a good investment for long-term savings.

Join us this Halloween in sticking it to high energy costs with these rebellious, spooky-themed tricks. From “Billraiser” to “The Darkening,” these moves will keep your costs as low as possible all season long. We’re here to keep your energy usage as low as possible, while giving your wallet a rest from its own horror stories!

Celebrating Black History Month at Rebel Energy

Honouring Innovation, Empowerment, and Environmental Justice

At Rebel Energy, we are driven by our mission to create a greener, fairer future by making clean energy accessible to everyone. As we celebrate Black History Month, we acknowledge the significant contributions of Black individuals in shaping the energy sector, while also reflecting on the ongoing struggle for environmental justice and equality.

Our COO, Bwalya Kasase, is passionate about the importance of Black History Month and its connection to our work.

“This month is about recognising the critical role Black individuals have played in shaping industries like energy,” says Bwalya. “It’s also about pushing forward to ensure the transition to renewable energy is inclusive and fair, leaving no community behind.”

Lewis Latimer: A Pioneer in Energy Innovation

One such figure who has had a lasting impact on the energy industry is Lewis Latimer. A key inventor in the late 19th century, Latimer improved the carbon filament in light bulbs, making electric lighting more efficient and affordable. His contributions helped pave the way for widespread access to electricity, an essential foundation of the modern energy industry. Latimer’s work highlights the importance of innovation in creating systems that benefit all, and his legacy continues to inspire our mission to make energy fair and accessible for everyone.

Energy and Environmental Justice: Addressing Inequality

At Rebel Energy, we understand that a sustainable future must also be just. For too long, marginalised communities, especially Black communities, have disproportionately faced environmental injustices, from higher energy costs to living near pollution-heavy industries. Black History Month serves as a reminder that building an equitable energy system means addressing these inequalities.

As Bwalya emphasises,

“The energy transition is about more than just reducing emissions – it’s about ensuring that everyone benefits from clean, affordable energy, regardless of their background.”

Looking Forward: Powering Change Together

This Black History Month, Rebel Energy reaffirms our commitment to driving both social and environmental progress. By celebrating the contributions of Black innovators like Lewis Latimer, we are reminded of the powerful role that individuals play in shaping industries for the better.

Together, we can create a future where clean energy empowers all people and communities, leaving no one behind in the journey towards sustainability.
