CLEAR FAQ

About the CLEAR Trial

What is project CLEAR?
Project CLEAR is a digital energy matching scheme that is specific to matching renewable energy generation to customers. This gives customers who may not have access to green energy to enjoy renewable energy benefits, potentially lowering their
energy bills.

Through this scheme, surplus renewable energy generated by our Generators is shared among members of the Energy Club, which includes Rebel customers like you. This means fair cost savings for all participants.

How does it benefit me?
By signing up to Project CLEAR, it gives you greater access to renewable energy and can lower your annual bill.

Who is a Generator, and who is a Consumer, within the Project CLEAR trial?
A Generator is a customer who owns renewable assets (e.g. Solar Panel or Turbine) and can generate energy to be sold.

A Consumer is a customer who does not own renewable assets (e.g. Solar Panel or Turbine) and only consumes energy.

What do I need in my property to be eligible?
To be eligible for the scheme, you need a working SMART Meter and to be a domestic rebel customer in the postal code areas in which the trial is taking place.

How do I apply to be part of the trial?
Complete our online application form to let us know if you’re a Generator or a Consumer, and then accept the terms and conditions associated with the trial.
As a Generator, you will be asked for some additional information which we will need to assess before being accepted onto the trial.

How long does the project pay me for?
For as long as you’re a Rebel Customer within the trial.

Do I need to be a Rebel customer?
Yes, to take part in Project CLEAR you need to be a new or existing Customer.

What happens if I switch Energy Supplier?
You will be unenrolled from Project CLEAR, and we will process any final payment owed to you.

What happens if I want to unenroll from the project whilst remaining a Rebel Customer?
As a consumer, we will unenroll you from Project CLEAR and we will manage your final payment. You will remain a Rebel Customer.

As a generator, you will lose the benefit of the Project CLEAR SEG Tariff and will move to our standard SEG Tariff.

What happens if I move house?
When notifying us of the change in address, you will need to ensure that Rebel Energy Supply Ltd is the registered supplier at the new address and that the new property also has a functioning SMART Meter.

If you are planning on moving house, please contact us and we can discuss the options.

Are there any taxes or deductions on payments I should be aware of?
As this is a trial for domestic customers, you are not required to pay any Tax or VAT on payments from this trial.

Is the tariff I’m getting with you competitive with others?
Yes, we aim to keep our tariffs competitive.

How are credits provided to consumers within the trial?
There will be a quarterly statement sent out to scheme participants which details the cost-saving benefit from generation sharing.

How are payments made?
For Generators, you will be paid quarterly, directly to your nominated bank account.
For Consumers, you will receive a quarterly credit directly to your Rebel account.

How do I move to another supplier for my SEG payments?
Approach your new supplier and request a switch.

Is there any commitment or contract duration associated with the project?
There are no commitments in relation to the length of term you are with the project.

Participants, however, do need to sign up to an exempt supply agreement for domestic customers. This establishes an arrangement with all participants within Project CLEAR
enabling us to match and share surplus energy.
